Masonic Lodges

Canaan Grand Lodge has four masonic chapters. The four lodges are :

  1. Silver Moon No. 1
  2. Acacia No. 4
  3. King of Kings No. 7
  4. Truth Be Told No. 191

Silver Star Chapter No. 1, Inc.

  • In 2009, Past Worthy Patron Jeff Brown was the visionary behind the institution of Silver Star Chapter No. 1, Inc. On September 19, 2011 marked the establishment of Silver Star Chapter No. 1, Inc. becoming the Chapter in Georgia under the Jurisdiction of Most Worshipful and Consolidated Hiram Grand Lodge and Virginia State Grand Chapter Inc. located in Newport News, Virginia.

    On November 3, 2018 the State of Georgia was granted charters to work under the newly formed Grand Lodge known as The Most Worshipful Canaan Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter known as Makeda Grand Chapter. Silver Star is one of three subordinate chapters serving under the Grand Master Floyd W. Staton, 33⸰ and Grand Matron Tracey Rogers Staton.

    The Chapter’s current Worthy Matron and Patron is Sis. Melonie Moon and Bro. Anthony Smith. There are currently three Past Worthy Matrons and three Past Worthy Patrons.

    Sis. Lisa Malone (2017-2018)

    Bro. Jeff Brown (2011-2013)

    Bro. Eric Threets (2013-2016)

    The Chapter continues its support by providing services in our community, fundraising, and participating in charitable events.

    As a Chapter we are looking for candidates with high moral and spiritual qualities who will work together to perform the objectives of The Order of the Eastern Star. In order to be considered for membership the candidate must possess the following qualities: spiritually motivated, patient, commendable, positive, and willing to serve her community at any given moment. If you possess any of the above qualities and can meet the commitment level that is required.

Ladies of Grace Chapter No. 2

  • Ladies of Grace began as a club in the year 2012 under the leadership of Melanie Lester (Holder). The members were Chunda Walls, Cheryl Ashley, Patricia Bowen, Pauline Matthews, Marie Wilson, Elizabeth Rowser, Nichola Griffin, Janet Davis, Shanna Ellis. The male leader of this group was Kwush Banks-EL.

    The club, was issued a Warrant from the Grand Chapter of the State of Virginia, affiliated with the Supreme Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, of the United States of America and Canada, Inc: affiliated with the Most Worshipful Hiram Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M.., jurisdiction of Virginia. The Warrant authorized them to establish a Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star under the title of Ladies of Grace Chapter #2 in the year 2014 to be held in Lithonia, Georgia, County of Dekalb, State of Georgia. Brother Kwush Banks was the Worthy Patron. Sister Melanie Lester (Holder) was the Worthy Matron and Sister Chunda Walls the Associate Matron. The Charter was presented on September 21, 2014 under the hand and Seal of the Virginia State Grand Chapter.

    Ladies of Grace Chapter # 2 received a Charter on December 1, 2018 from Grand Makeda Chapter, affiliated with the Most Worshipful Canaan Grand Lodge State of Georgia to work as a Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star under the hand and Seal of the Sister Tracey Staton, Grand Worthy Matron and Brother Floyd Staton Grand Worthy Patron . Ladies of Grace Chapter # 2 consisted of the Worthy Patron Brother Carlos Mason, the Worthy Matron Sister Melanie Lester (Holder), and the Associate Matron Sister Claudette Farrar. Other members were Sister Cheryl Ashley Secretary, Sister Nichola Griffin Treasure, Sister Judy Randle Conductress, and Associate Conductress Synthia Kennebrew.

    Sister Claudette Farrar was elected Worthy Matron and Sister Judy Randle was elected Associate Matron in December 2018. Brother Carlos Mason is the current Worthy Patron. Current members are Sister Cheryl Ashley Secretary, Sister Marcia Edmondson Treasurer, Sister Synthia Kennebrew Conductress, Sister Mary Locke Associate Conductress, Sister Mikka Wilson, Sister Priscila Morgan, Sister Debra Jesse, and Sister Zelda Thomas. Ladies of Grace Chapter activities during this period were as follows: Delta Omega fundraiser, Five Star Point Tea donation given to The Sickle Cell Foundation of Atlanta, Multiple Sclerosis donation given to Foundation and a recipient, Autism scholarship given to a student, donations given to Families for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    New Sisters Malissa Brown and Kelly Mason were added to LOG role.

    The Corona virus known as Covid relegated in person meetings to go virtual from 2019 to 2021. In person meetings resumed in the August of 2021.

    Sister Judy Randle was elected as Worthy Matron in December of 2021. Sisters Nicole Collier, Gayla Caldwell, Nikki Brantley, Zelda Corbie and Renee Smith received their obligations in 2022 under the leadership of WM Judy Randle. Chapter activities included: fundraising activities such as the Mother’s Day Brunch collaborating with Queen of the Nile and Hadassah Chapters, Tumbler sells and Delta Omega. Charity activities were as follows: a donation to Miss Rhodes Island Contestant, feeding 17 to 21 year old homeless young people at Covenant House, donating clothing and household items. In November a Thanksgiving basket is bring presented to Evergreen Baptist Church. Also, two families living at the Extended Stay Hotel will received Thanksgiving meals for their families. Two Angel Tree recipients will be selected in December.

Queens of the Nile Chapter No. 3

  • Queens of the Nile, Chapter No. 3 was formed on August 14, 2014, by Bro. Floyd Staton, the first Worthy Patron, Sis. JoAnn Staton, the first Worthy Matron and Sis. Diandra Staton, Secretary.

    Queens of the Nile, Chapter No. 3 received their dispensation to work under the Virginia State Grand Chapter and received their official charter on September 21, 2015. At that time, under the leadership of Worthy Matron Sis. JoAnn Staton and Associate Matron, Sis. Lavern Garrison, there were nine chartered members.

    Following the example of the heroines, the chapter has supplied clothing and blankets to the homeless at the old Peachtree and Pine shelter, donated clothing and Christmas gifts to battered women and children at an undisclosed safe house in Lithonia, as well as donating Thanksgiving dinners to needy families in the community.

    Under the current matron and patron, Sis. Diandra Staton-Owens and Bro. Columbus Oliver, the chapter continues to do charitable work; donations to needy families, in helping to pay bills, back to school back packs, donating to Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society, providing toys during the holiday, and implementing a scholarship, The Chester L. Staton Sr. Scholarship for Continuing Education, which has awarded three scholarships to 3 students this far, the last being divided between 3 young ladies attending college in Chicago, Il.

    The chapter is looking to grow and collaborate collectively with Makeda Grand Chapter to bring light to the Grand Chapter as well as the community.

Hadassah Chapter No. 4

  • In December of 2018, Sister Lisa R. Malone, Past Worthy Matron of Silver Star Chapter No. 1, had a vision to grow the Jurisdiction of Georgia by increasing the number of chapters under The Most Worshipful Canaan Grand Lodge and Makeda Grand Chapter Jurisdiction of Georgia. Although the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Sister Malone never wavered in her desire to start this new chapter. During this period, a new lodge, Acacia Lodge No.4, was formed and was designated as the brother lodge for the new chapter to work under.

    On August 7, 2021, the Makeda Grand Chapter reinstated Sister Latesa Rogers and initiated nine new sisters into the Order: Sister Deyanca Henson, Sister Chiqueta Jackson, Sister Angela Kennedy, Sister Charndrea Leonard, Sister Jeannie Malone, Sister Celeste Marshall, Sister Tamara Perry, Sister Rachelle Shaw and Sister Valencia Wiley. Also, on this day, The Most Worshipful Canaan Grand Lodge and Makeda Grand Chapter Jurisdiction of Georgia presented Brother Clayton Foxx of Acacia Lodge No. 4 and Sister Lisa R. Malone with a Letter of Dispensation for the formation of Hadassah Chapter No. 4. From that day, Hadassah Chapter No. 4 began their journey in servicing the Metro Atlanta Area Community.

    Since receiving the Letter of Dispensation, the chapter has participated in many activities during its first year of inception:

    • Partnership with Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School with “Backpack and Supplies Drives”

    • Awareness Walks

    o Metro Atlanta Heart Walk

    o Pink Warrior Walk for Breast Cancer

    • Feeding Families in the Community for Thanksgiving

    • Toys for Children in the Community for Christmas

    • Partnering with Warrick Dunn Charities

    • Annual Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser for Chapter Scholarships

    • Mother’s Day Brunch in conjunction with other Chapters under Makeda Grand Chapter

    • Donuts with Dad at Arbor Terrace at Cascade Assisted Living Facility

    • Celebrating monthly Awareness Causes

    • Supporting the Grand Chapter in projects/initiatives throughout the year

    • Supporting other Chapters in their projects/initiative through the year

    • Additional fundraising activities for the following:

    o Chapter Scholarships

    o Warrick Dunn Charities

    o School Supplies

    • Three $1000 Chapter Scholarships

    o Beverly J. Malone Scholarship for a female high school student

    o Wilson Shaw Scholarship for a male high school student

    o Queen Hadassah Scholarship for a male or female college student

    As the chapter continues to move forward and progress, eleven more sisters have been initiated or reinstated into the fold: Sister Courtney Aldridge, Sister Leann Battle, Sister Shavia’ Hill, Sister Eugenia Smith, Sister Michelle Taylor, Sister Shannta Hinds, Sister Elbony Johnson, Sister Kimberly Johnson, Sister Katina McCarty, Sister Angela Taylor, and Sister Nicole Williams who was reinstated.

    Hadassah Chapter No. 4 strives to emulate the characteristics of the heroines that we represent daily, and we also work hard to make sure that we grow our bond of sisterhood while still servicing the community. We believe in peace, harmony and hard work which can be seen through our great efforts in our community.
